Factors envolved in booking a cheap hotel

January 3rd, 2009

The first thing to think about is that what type of hotel you need and then build your trip around that. Many people are often booking hotels that are way out of their price range and usually based solely on the star rating. However what most people don’t realise is that the star rating is only based on the number of amenities the hotel has and not the quality of them. Quite often you will be paying for facilities which are not what they say they are or you would never want to use. For example some luxury hotels will build a swimming pool just to bump up the rating however it will often be very small and/or poor quality as they built it only for this reason. This is why examining the finer details of any hotel is very important.

Location also has to be a factor when thinking about a cheap hotel anywhere. The closer you are to the city centre in Liverpool you are the more you are going to pay. Since taxis and busses are still quite cheap it may be worth booking a hotel further out from the city and then commuting in on a daily basis. For some this is too much of a chore however when many people realise that they are paying double the price just to be close to the city centre. This is especially true when you compare some of the facilities of hotels in the centre or Liverpool to those on the outskirts which will often have better facilities than those with a central location. So with this in mind its worth looking at how much you will spend to get into the city centre and if it is less that booking a cheap hotel in Liverpool city centre.

All inclusive board has now become a favourite option for many people who want to budget their trip more effectively and try to plan ahead. Full board will mean you get three meals a day every day for you whole stay. However while this may not seem like the great money saving option it appears to be. It will work if you are going to be close by the hotel at all times however if you are away sight seeing are you really going to travel back to the hotel for food? Remember if you pay full board and end up eating out you are wasting alot of money. Half board for most is a much better and more realistic option in my opinion.

Planning your budget ahead of time has to be the most important factor of a cheap hotel stay so its worth looking at how much various attractions are going to cost ahead of time. You may also be able to get some great savings and discounts by pre-booking local attractions. You may also be able to get discount coupons from travel magazines or even you hotel in advance. Hotels can often offer discounts to their guests when they have contracts setup with local attractions.
